Submission Process

Submission Process

Authors wishing to submit manuscripts to ElectroSenses – Journal of Bioelectromagnetics, Environmental & Functional Medicine should follow the submission process described below.

Manuscripts are evaluated through an editorial screening and independent peer-review process designed to ensure scientific rigor, methodological transparency, and ethical integrity.

1. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal’s online submission system using the submission form available on the website.

During submission, authors will typically be asked to provide:

  • manuscript title
  • author names and institutional affiliations
  • corresponding author contact information
  • manuscript file(s)
  • figures and tables (if submitted separately)
  • cover letter (optional but recommended)

Authors should ensure that the manuscript complies with the journal’s Manuscript Preparation Guidelines and ethical policies before submission.

2. Initial Editorial Assessment

After submission, manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening conducted by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor.

This preliminary assessment evaluates whether the manuscript:

  • falls within the scope of the journal
  • meets basic scientific and ethical standards
  • contains the essential elements required for peer review

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors without external review.

3. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to a handling editor, who oversees the peer-review process.

The journal follows a single-blind peer-review model, in which reviewers know the identity of the authors but reviewers remain anonymous to the authors.

Typically, manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers.

Reviewers assess:

  • scientific quality and originality
  • methodological rigor
  • clarity of presentation
  • relevance to the scope of the journal

4. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewer reports and the handling editor’s assessment, one of the following editorial decisions will be made:

  • Acceptance
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Rejection

Final editorial decisions are made by the handling editor or Editor-in-Chief, who must be independent of the authors and reviewers and free of conflicts of interest related to the manuscript.

5. Revision

If revisions are requested, authors will be invited to submit a revised manuscript together with a response to reviewer comments explaining how the manuscript has been modified.

Revised manuscripts may undergo additional rounds of review if necessary.

6. Acceptance and Production

Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, the article enters the production process, which includes:

  • copyediting and formatting
  • reference and metadata preparation
  • DOI assignment
  • preparation of archival formats for indexing and repositories

Authors may be contacted to provide additional files or information required for publication.

7. Article Processing Charges

After acceptance, authors will receive information regarding the Article Processing Charges (APCs) applicable to their manuscript type.

APCs are invoiced only after editorial acceptance and do not influence the editorial decision-making process.

8. Publication

Accepted articles are published online as open-access publications and made immediately available to readers worldwide.

Articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and are permanently accessible through the journal website and relevant indexing services.

Processing Times

The journal aims to provide an efficient and timely editorial process.

Typical processing times are:

  • Initial editorial assessment: approximately 3–7 days
  • Peer review: typically 3–5 weeks
  • First decision: usually within 4–6 weeks of submission
