Associate Editors of ElectroSenses – Journal of Bioelectromagnetics, Environmental & Functional Medicine support the Editor-in-Chief in managing the peer-review process and maintaining the journal’s scientific and ethical standards.
Associate Editors are appointed based on their subject-matter expertise, academic or clinical experience, and publication record in areas relevant to the journal’s scope.
Key Responsibilities
Associate Editors are responsible for:
- Managing the peer-review process for assigned manuscripts in their area of expertise
- Selecting and inviting qualified peer reviewers based on scientific and methodological competence
- Evaluating reviewer reports and making reasoned recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief
- Ensuring that manuscripts meet standards of scientific rigor, ethical compliance, and transparency
- Identifying potential conflicts of interest and managing them in accordance with journal policies
- Recommending revisions, acceptance, or rejection based on peer-review outcomes and editorial assessment
- Supporting the timely and constructive handling of submissions
- Advising on the development of journal sections, special issues, or thematic collections, where appropriate
Editorial Authority and Independence
Associate Editors act under the editorial framework of the journal and exercise independent scholarly judgment in the assessment of manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, ethical considerations, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Associate Editors do not handle manuscripts for which they have a conflict of interest and recuse themselves where appropriate.
Collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief
Associate Editors collaborate closely with the Editor-in-Chief and may participate in editorial discussions regarding journal policies, standards, and strategic development.
Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated senior editor, based on recommendations from Associate Editors.
Ethical Oversight
Associate Editors contribute to upholding publication ethics by:
- Identifying potential ethical issues during peer review
- Referring concerns to the Editor-in-Chief for further assessment
- Supporting the handling of corrections, retractions, and appeals in line with COPE guidelines
Conflicts of Interest
Associate Editors are required to disclose potential conflicts of interest and to refrain from participating in the evaluation of manuscripts where such conflicts exist, including submissions from close collaborators, institutional colleagues, or personal associates.
